Here’s an easy and tasty fat free raw vegan (80/10/10 style) green smoothie recipe you can make for on the go or taking to work. I used to take this to the office (where I used to work) because my boss kept teasing me about my creepy alien green concoctions lol.

What’s your favourite green smoothie recipe?

hi, is it ok to almond milk if i am trying to loose weight
Low Fat Vegan Chef Veronica
If you’re trying to lose weight you want to eat lower calorie foods, so no I wouldn’t recommend adding almond milk. Water is zero calories and works well.

This looks so good! I’m completely new to green smoothie but I think I will try this one out tomorrow as I am learning new recipes before I go back to school…I have to be up early and never have the time for a proper breakfast! Thanks so much for this! Would it make a difference to blend it all the night before and put it in a cup and then the fridge so I can just grab and go (I know you said you could prepare it in the vitamix to blend the next day but if I blend it the day before it won’t hurt, will it?) ? Also I’m from England so do you happen to know how many grams a cup of blueberries would be for example?
Thank you π
Veronica
Hi Laura
The reason you don’t want to pre-make juices and smoothies is because they oxidize when exposed to air and can lose nutrition over a period of time. So this is why I like everything fresh. Also the texture is best and things don’t turn brown or go off.
You can try blending it the night before, but have to seal it in an air tight glass jar or container.
When I use cups I mean 250 ml. So could you just use a 250 ml measuring cup to approximate the blueberries?

I never think of adding grapes to my green smoothies…..have to try it one day. Thanks!

Veronica you should smile more in your vids! I regurly watch a couple of other rawfoodies and there always smilling in their vids and i get happy everytime I watch one of their videos. They are/seem so positive! (Not that I’m saying you aren’t!) Ok, sorry if this is a strange comment.. just wanted to say that π
Love that you can make it in advance and store it, I’m ALWAYS running late in the morning.. π
Veronica
I’m filming them by myself in my kitchen. Plus I don’t do vids regularly, it’s hard to smile to no one and act like that lol.

I never thought about puting graps and blueberries together. This lookes really good. I do get tho odd look when I tell someone about the green smoothie I make. I have one restaurant that will make them for me as they have the srawberries and bannana smoothie on their menu. I ask them to only add water and spinich to it and they have to try it before they bring it to me. I do not add nut milks or other milks to the smoothie as it makes it to rich for me.
Thanks again for all the hard work you are doing to bring new tastes into our world.
Veronica
No problem Yvonne. You’ll love this recipe

I’m hoping you decide to put out a dvd/recipe book of cooked vegan recipes…
Veronica
Oh don’t you worry Heather, I am actually almost done 2 cooked vegan recipe ebooks. Finishing the last recipe today and then I’ll be writing and formatting them. Should be available next month! So glad you’re interested. π Everything will be absolutely delicious, lower fat and oil free.
Heather
I am loving your website Veronica! I can’t wait to try this smoothie…

That looks great Veronica – v delicious! Will try it soon. It looked to be about 2 cups of blueberries, is that right? And the grapes looked like they took up about 40% of the Vitamix.
I actually don’t mind it if my grapes have seeds – yes it’s a bit chewier, but oftentimes the grapes with seeds are far sweeter. I understand too that having the seeds in this way, provides nutrition. So, I do it both ways, with and without seeds, just depending…
Veronica
I put the recipe at the end of the video.
2 cups red grapes
4 stalks of celery, chopped
2 cups spinach, packed
2 cups frozen blueberries

I stick with organic products for buy smoothies.
My everyday one consists of Spinach, celery, banana, coconut milk, bee pollen, raw hemp seed, cinnamon, raw cacao nibs and water or rice milk added. Sometimes I will add a vanilla rice protein, sometimes not.
A special smoothie I make has apple, celery, sparkling mint water, banana, kale, spinach and a couple of dates. I always add Bee Pollen to my smoothies for extra energy. Try it and enjoy.
Not sure if I love smoothies or green drinks better. Both a great way to start the day!
Veronica
Some vegans don’t want to use bee products for ethical reasons. Personally I have not noticed any improvements using it in smoothies vs not. Also I don’t do raw cacao it’s very stimulating and can drain your adrenal glands if you consume it regularly.

I like to keep my smoothies and green smoothies simple and healthy so I never add milk or nut milks or protein powder. I’ve used a small amount of hemp occasionally, but it’s more beneficial to keep your smoothie low fat and high carb for stable blood sugar instead of having coconut milk/meat, nuts, hemp, flax, oil all on top of it. It’s much more dense in calories and fat than fruits and green and can cause weight gain, poor digestion and blood sugar issues or aggravate candida for some people.
